Each Runling has 2 special abilities and each ability has 5 levels. It costs 4 points to upgrade an ability. To obtain points to spend, level up your Runling (do not confuse this with leveling up your runling's abilities).
All Runlings start at Level 1 with 4 points to spend. Once your Runling has reached level 2, you will get another 4 points to spend (and so on).
It is possible to to obtain 20 points to spend (on top of the 4 free points you start with) just by completing level 1 (Normal Mode) with your Runling. To do this: Complete level 1 (this gives 38 XP) + Obtain 100 score in Mini-Game (this gives 2 XP) = 40 XP (Total score required to reach Runling Level 6)
