The farther away your camera distance, the larger your visual field. Drag sliding bar to the far right for the maximum camera distance. Caveat - drones lose their shadow when your camera distance is maximized, which makes small grey drones hard to see (especially on Bot 2000 and Odin). I find decreasing the distance slightly significantly decreases my chances of derping into a drone.
To turn on hot keys for distance, press 'e' for Camera, then select 'Add Increase Distance Skill' and 'Add Decrease Distance Skill'.
Hotkey 'b' - Increases distance
Hotkey 'v' - Decreases distance
Rotation is useful as a hot key (toggles a 90 degree rotation), but pretty useless with manual adjustments (because when would you ever need anything other than a 90 degree rotation?). Again the idea here is to maximize your visual field. Horizontal lanes provide much more visibility for drones ahead than vertical lanes. Keeping this in mind, rotating your screen so that you are always running in a horizontal direction is a useful strategy.
I find running towards the left is easiest for me due to my mouse placement, so I use the hot key 'x' to rotate my screen so that I am always running towards the left side of the screen. Speed runners, however, will find this a hindrance.
Hotkey 'x' - Rotate left 90 degrees
Hotkey 'c' - Rotate right 90 degrees
Default camera view is on an angle. However, an overhead view is the easiest to gauge drone distance. Drag sliding bar to the far right to change to overhead
The camera will follow your runling. To turn on, press 't' to go into Settings, then select 'Follow Runling'.
You can also turn on the 'Follow Runling' hotkey (z) by pressing 'e' to go into Camera, then select 'Add Follow Runling Skill'.
Alternatives to camera follow include using WASD or your mouse to move the screen.
Hotkey 'z' - Toggles Camera Follow
Play around with your camera settings to see which ones your prefer. Although the most popular and arguably easiest camera setting is maximum distance with an overhead view and camera follow, there are top players who use angled views and enjoy the depth that it provides and many more top players who prefer WASD/mouse for visual field control.
Autoclickers (abbreviated 'ac') are pretty self explanatory. After right clicking for 6 hours one day, I've learned to appreciate them. There are players who think autoclickers detract from the skills and mechanics of the game, but you'll find most top players use an ac. To each their own. Below you will find links to autoclickers that are used by top players.

Baneling | To improve your sniping skills, use First Person mode or use blink to adjust your bullets. First Person Mode Press 't' to enter Settings. Under 'Mode', select 'First Person'. Press 'u' to exit First Person. Using Blink to Adjust Bullets Blink up or down to adjust the angle of your bullets. Make sure to follow your bullet so you know whether to blink up or down! |
Baneling | To avoid dense drone areas, blink down into the lower lane. Just make sure there is someone there who can save you if you derp!

My level 1 Runling is too slow! | Use mini-game to level up quickly. When you are low level, using mini-game is more time-efficient than advancing lanes. For example, reaching a 200 score in mini-game (which is relatively easy to do) gives you 6 XP and is the equivalent of completing 3 lanes on the first level. To see how much XP you can earn with mini-game, see Score to XP Conversion Table.

Where are those red drones coming from?! | To maximize your visual field, hide the HUD (at the bottom, that shows your Runling's level, XP, energy, etc). Press 't' for Settings. Under 'HUD', select 'Hide'. Voila! No more red sniper drones from hell. Well, not really. But now you can't blame the HUD.

What's with the lag? | Press 'Ctrl Alt F' to see the host server as well as your ping. Look to the top left corner of the screen for the information. This does not remove lag, but will give you an idea of whether or not to pause the game to get past any lag spikes. However, if you see Brazil or Australia, get outta there while you can or risk rage quitting after getting lag killed for the umpteenth time.

My bank was reset?! |
Well, did you make a backup? No? Too bad. Lesson learned. To find where your bank is stored, go to My Documents > StarCraft II > Accounts > [Your account #] > 1-S2-1-[More account #s] > Banks > 1-S2-1-[Even more account #s] > [Bank stored here] You should see 2 files: RunlingRun004.SC2Bank RunlingRun004Backup.SC2Bank I save this file in a new folder named Backup. If your bank gets reset, just replace with your backups. More info about banks can be found on DreaM's website here. |
